Friends, it is time we all take a ride on the ElevateHER, a powerful force of change. As we dive into this week's newsletter, our mission is clear: to celebrate and support the unsung heroes—the women who often feel unseen, those doing vital work, battling life's challenges, and yet, too often, going unrecognized. How can we all become ElevateHERs and lift up those who deserve recognition and support?
Recognizing the Unsung Voices
In a world captivated by flashy headlines and extravagant displays, the quiet voices often go unnoticed. These women are the backbone of families, the champions of their communities, and the change-makers in their fields. They are the ones who stand up to adversity, fight for justice, and carry the weight of the world on their shoulders, often without acknowledgment.
ElevateHERs: Who Are They?
ElevateHERs are not limited by gender or age. They are individuals who recognize the profound value of the unsung voices among us. They are advocates for equality and justice, champions for the underrepresented, and voices for the voiceless. ElevateHERs are those who take action to uplift and empower those who often go unrecognized.
Becoming an ElevateHER: A Call to Action
1. Active Listening: Start by actively listening to the stories of the women around you. Their experiences, challenges, and triumphs are worth hearing. Show empathy and offer a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear when needed.
2. Acknowledge Their Impact: One powerful way to be an ElevateHER is to publicly acknowledge the work and contributions of these unsung people. Shine a light on their accomplishments and let them know that their efforts are seen and appreciated.
3. Mentorship and Support: Offer mentorship and support to those who need it most. Your guidance and encouragement can make a significant difference in someone's journey. Bonus points if you extend beyond mentorship and roll into the realm of sponsorship. The difference? A sponsor will raise your hand when you’re not in the room.
4. Create Opportunities: If you're in a position to do so, create consistent and permanent opportunities for underrepresented women. Advocate for diversity and inclusion in your workplace and community. Make these changes a part of the SYSTEMS. This is very different than tokenism and checklist representation.
5. Advocate for Change: Be a voice for change. Speak up against injustices and inequalities, and use your influence to drive positive transformation. Call in, be kind, leave shame behind.
6. Amplify Other Voices: Share the stories and perspectives of those we never hear from. Use your platform to amplify other voices and the issues they care about. We all have our own echo chambers, let’s go for reach and impact.
The Power of Community in Being an ElevateHER
ElevateHERs are not solitary heroes, they are not heroes at all. They are part of supportive communities that encourage and amplify their efforts. By creating a strong community of ElevateHERs, we can inspire others to join the cause.
1. Share Stories: Share the stories of ElevateHERs within your community. Let others know about the incredible work being done and the women who are making a difference.
2. Collective Efforts: Join forces with like-minded individuals and organizations to maximize your impact. Collective efforts have the potential to drive real change.
3. Celebrate Achievements: Celebrate the achievements of everyone within your community. Keep an eye for the hidden gem, recognition can be a catalyst for their continued success.
4. Educate and Raise Awareness: Raise awareness about the challenges these women face and the importance of recognizing their contributions. Education is the first step toward change.
Why We All Need to Be ElevateHERs
The world is full of incredible women who inspire us daily with their determination, resilience, and compassion. By taking a ride on the ElevateHER, we're not just acknowledging their worth; we're also fostering a culture of support, encouragement, and empowerment.
When we elevate others, we create a ripple effect. We inspire others to do the same, and together we build a world where no one goes unseen or undervalued. It's not about being a saviour; it's about being an ally, a friend, a mentor, and a source of strength for those who need it.
Let's be ElevateHERs, not because we want recognition or praise, but because we believe in the inherent worth of every individual. By recognizing and supporting the unsung voices and people, we're fostering a more just, equitable, and compassionate world.
As we head into the holiday season, let's take this opportunity to reflect on the power we hold to make a difference. Let's celebrate and uplift the women who often go unseen and be catalysts for change. Join us on the ElevateHER and become a force for good in your community and beyond. Offer a hand up rather than a hand out.
With love, kindness, and a call to action. Going UP,
Lisa
