Build Your Wardrobe: 10 Staples for a Minimalist Dresser

So you are a basic queen. You like your closet to be simple, put together and cohesive. Those words might all mean the same thing. But I'm going with it.

What is minimalist style?

Certainly one of the following can describe the way you like to dress.

1. Sleek: Clean lines and uncomplicated designs.

2. Effortlessly Elegant: Sophistication without appearing overly calculated.

3. Subtle: Pieces that are refined yet understated.

4. Timelessly Stylish: Enduring classics rather than fleeting trends.

5. Polished: Projects refinement and grace.

6. Minimalistic: Curated with essential items, devoid of excess.

7. Contemporary: Modern aesthetics and progressive designs.

8. Discerning: Reflects a keen eye for quality and detail.

9. Monochrome: Neutral tones or stick to a cohesive colour scheme.

10. Practical: Prioritize functionality and comfort, while still maintaining an air of sophistication.

Your style icons are people like Jennifer Aniston, Sophie Richie, Megan Markle, Audrey Hepburn to name a few.

For me, minimalist screams quality pieces...the cashmeres, the silks and the timeless pieces you can wear forever. For others, it may be sustainable, circular fashion with thrifted staples you can wear through the years. In the end, it can be anything, because it is you and your style.

Your style? It's like your personal calling card, shouting out to the world who you are without even saying a word. It's not just about what you wear; it's about how you wear it, the colours you choose, the vibe you give off. It's like painting a picture of yourself every day, one outfit at a time. Whether you're rocking bold prints or keeping it cool and simple, each choice tells a story about you. It's not about following the crowd; it's about owning who you are and letting that confidence shine through. This is your way to let the world know, "This is me!"

I've put together a list of 10 staples for a minimalist wardrobe if you're looking to start from scratch, to fill in the blanks or to update a few pieces. I tried to follow the 3-3-3 formula in the hopes of identifying pieces that can be easily mix and matched. This is completely adaptable to your lifestyle as we know we all lead very different lives.

Straight leg jeans. No distress. Mid wash

Wide leg trousers

Wide leg denim/Denim skirt depending on your comfort level with trends.

Striped tee or Sweater

Basic tee: neutral colour

Cardigan

Button down top

Ballet flats

Loafers

Kitten heel sling backs/Sneakers- depending on the lifestyle you lead

Blazer

Denim jacket

Trench coat

Bonus piece: Black Dress

Things to consider:

If you're a neutral fan- that's easy, stick to the basics

If you're a colour girlie, think of fun ways that you can bring in colour- is it a cardi? bag? shoes?

Do you have a statement piece that you can add to this to truly make this a "you" outfit.

Bonus dressing:

Add a vintage flair with a floral blouse

Add an edgy vibe with a leather jacket

Make it sporty with sneakers or a bomber/varsity jacket

Make it feminine by adding florals and flowy materials.

Now comes the fun part- put together your pieces to fully capture your personal style. Having troubles finding the right pieces? Reach out to us and we'd be glad to help.
